VERIZON CENTER INFORMATION
Verizon
Center, managed by Washington Sports & Entertainment, LP, is
home to the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington
Capitals, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and the Georgetown
Hoyas Men’s Basketball team. Located in the heart of Chinatown
off of the Gallery-Place Chinatown Metro stop, Verizon Center is
only a few steps away from the White House and hosts more than 220
events and concerts each year.
Debuting in December of 1997, the $200 million sports and entertainment
facility is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year with having
entertained over 24 million patrons with over 2,070 world-class
sporting events, concerts and family shows. The 2007 WNBA All-Star
game, the 2006 Washington Regional Round of the NCAA Division I
Men’s Basketball Tournament, the 2005 ACC Tournament, the
2003 World Figure Skating Championships, the first and second rounds
of the 2002 and 1998 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament
and the 1998 NHL Stanley Cup Finals are only a sample of the world-class
events held here at the venue.
"TASTE OF TEN" Luncheon Scores a Perfect Ten
Overwhelming Community Response Raises $15,000 for
Local Charities in Less Than an Hour
Verizon Center’s “Taste of Ten” luncheon today scored
a perfect ten as over 1,500 people from the surrounding community
purchased tickets within the first 40 minutes to sample up to six
of the 31 restaurants on site. Tickets for the luncheon were $10 and
benefited local Washington Sports & Entertainment charities. Click
